Comic Con 2015 – Call of Duty Black Ops III Zombies

Comic Con 2015 – Call of Duty Black Ops III Zombies

If there is something everyone can enjoy, it is killing zombies. While the zombie apocalypse is a long ways off from happening, there is still plenty to do in the mean time. Treyarch sent over Tom Cassell “Syndicate” to moderate the panel with Jason Bundell and Craig Houston there to talk about they game.

Over the course of the panel they talked about how the fans are the main reason that the Zombies game has grown to the point that it has. It started off as a fun project that they developed with left over assets from the game itself. From there, they let people around the office play it. It was not long before everyone around the office was playing the game. There was a joke about people getting hooked up to IVs to make sure they got the nutrients that they needed to keep working (or playing). It was then that it was decided to ship the Zombies minigame with an earlier Call of Duty title.

Those who know the story line of the Zombies Maps understands that there are things bigger at play then what can be seen. Jason and Craig mentioned that there were still Easter Eggs to be found within the game that the Gamers hadn't found yet. The reason for mentioning this was that they were going to be working on tying all the story elements together across the various maps and scenarios that the zombies had been featured in. Just what and how remains a mystery at present. All we know is that clues and more will be told in the new Maps that were revealed: “Shadows of Evil” and “The Giant”

“Shadows of Evil” works as something different. The cast is voiced by a number of known personalities: Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman, Richard Picardo and Jeff Goldblum. Shadows of Evil offers something that is unique and different from the rest of the experiences: Noir. Each of the characters is broken in a way. The Shadow Man, voiced by Richard Picardo, is working with them to “help” them. All of them have secrets that they want to keep hidden in one way or another. All of them want those secrets to stay hidden.

“The Giant” was the second trailer that we say. To say the least, seeing kill their younger self was confusing enough. Present for this were the actors reprising their roles: Fred Tatsciore as Nikolia, Nolan North as Richtenfen, Tom Kane as Takeo and Steve Blum as Demsey. The original stars returned and were happy to continue working with their characters. When they started, it was more cartoonly. Now, they are moving in a more realistic direction. In many cases the panelists responded using the voices of their characters. Nokolia was especially vocal about this.

Story wise, “The Giant” is said to start offering clues. With these clues, people will be able to begin tying things together. Apparently most of the Zombie maps and worlds are connected in some crazy fashion. At least some of the questions that the hidden endings offered up will get answers. Just what those answers are remain to be seen. The developers were extremely tight lipped about what could be revealed and what could not.

The Call of Duty Zombies phenomenon is an amazing thing. There have been scores of Zombie shooters but this one has cemented it own place in the anthology of them. More remains to be revealed. Stay sharp Zombie players. The story hidden for those seeking it will take some work to find.
