If you have the CD key, you could type it in on steam and preload it then.

how do i get the cd key? I pre ordered it from gamestop. If I call the store i preordered it from will they give me the CDKEY over the phone?
no they wont, to preload it MUST be bought on steam
Not true, you can use cd key from the box to activate it on steam.
yes true since a shop wont give you the key in advance, lets say they gave you the box early, youd have the disc and wouldnt need the preload since youd have a working unlocked copy of the game files

its possible that amazon may email ou the key, that i have seen once but this was clearly stated before the purchase was made, other sites may also but ive only ever seen it once
Whats the point of pre-loading it if you have bought the retail copy? So you can play it at 12am 11-11-11? Just get the retail copy on the day and install it, no need to download if you have bought a hard copy...
well ye

also i should point out that steam wont accept all retail keys for activation, anthough trying never hurts anyone

also this would be alot easier to read if some of you folk would take 30 secs to register, so different people in the convo actually get names
