Nintendo Direct Returns in a Big Way

The new Nintendo Direct which aired on 11/12/2015 gave us a lot of information. There was more than enough for it to be at least a huge suprise.

For a while there had been rumors of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess getting a re-release onto the WiiU. This Nintendo Direct confirmed that. Not only is the game being updated into HD but there is new content being added to the game as well. There will also be a special edition of the physical game that will come with the "Wolf Link" Amiibo. Given that it was already a 30 hour plus game on the Wii and GameCube this will just be pushing Twilight Princess to greater heights.

Zelda U was shown briefly. This only showed Link riding around a field on Epona but there was a lot to be seen within the world itself. There is a lot to see yet of this game but we got a good dose of it in this Nintendo direct. It is very likely to see release in 2016 with the 30th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series.

Hyrule Warriors Legends offers a few new people. Linkle, a female version  of Link has been added in. You will also be able to play as the King of Hyrule, Toon Link or Tetra from Windwaker, Skull Kid from Majora's mask. Linkle is a dual-crossbow user with a high number of multi-directional attacks.

Final Fantasy Explorers is very strongly reminiscent of the last Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. You can have up to 4 people working with you. On top of a massive amount of customization you can also taken on the forms of iconic Final Fantasy Characters. These can be unlocked using particular items and using the Trance mode available. You will be able to team up with friends to play multi-player. Each player will be assigned a role and vacancies can be filled with trained monsters.

Fire Emblem Fates offers 3 distinct games. Birth Rite and Conquest offer two similar stories. It tells the story of both sides of the conflict that the world it is set in finds itself enmeshed in. Revelation is the concluding chapter to this set and the third entry. For a Tactical system of game with amazing story, look forward to its release.

Xenoblade Chronicles X offers yet more into the world of Xenoblade. It is going to be a massive world for you explore. It will be offering an MMO'esque world.

Pokemon had a new surprise announcements that really floored people. The first, more basic, was the announcements of Pokemon Picross. There are some fun new and unique elements. There was also the announcement of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. The biggest surprise is that on February 27th, 2016, Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are getting released into the Nintendo E-Shop. To make things even better is that you will be able to trade freely between these versions of the games using the built-in Wi-fi offered by the Nintendo 3DS.

The largest surprise was the addition of Shadow Mewtwo to new game Pokken Tournament. This deep fighting game offers a completely new style of play within the Pokemon world. The addition of a very unique version of one of the most powerful Pokemon is amazing in its own right.

There were a lot of other games mentioned. There localization of Dragon Quest 7 and 8, the new Animal Cross games, Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, Star Fox Zero and a number of others. Each got a little description so the viewers had some idea of what they offered.

The biggest announcement of the whole Direct came right at the end of it. It was the reveal trailer for Cloud Strife being added onto the Roster for Super Smash Bros for the WiiU and 3DS. This featured Cloud in both his outfit from Final Fantasy 7 and Advent Children. It also revealed a Midgar stage that will feature a number of summons from the Final Fantasy Series. It does look like Cloud's Fina Smash is going to be Omni-Slash, Cloud's final limit break.

This new direct format offered us a new view and a great look at the pending line up for 2015 leading into 2016.
