Comic Con 2015 - The World of Capcom

Capcom is very good at giving a solid presentation. They know they have good bit of stuff to get through and are very eager to start. They had a few games to talk about and a good bit of merchandise as well.

This year, they began with a simple but amazing thing. A life-size replica of Mega Man's helmet. While they only had a resin prototype on hand, weighing in around 5 pounds, it had everything that the plastic model would have. The plastic model is expected to around a mere pound or two. That is lighted ear pieces and it would open about the middle of the helmet. Capcom was offering an interesting set up for this item. You will have a 30 day pre-order window to put in an order. They will then go to manufacturing with that number. Likely they will add in at least 10% extra to help meet the demand that will likely follow after the pre-order window closes and the item starts to ship. It is very possible there will be at least a few runs of this item. It all depends on the demand. Capcom is interested in getting these to the people who want it.

On the topic of Mega Man, they also talked about the Mega Man Legacy collection that is coming out very soon. It is expected this summer. This collection aims to do a few things. One of the biggest parts of it is bring a far more consistent look to the art of the original Mega Man games. The art was very inconsistent over in the US and they want to fix that. While it will be a digital release, there will still be artwork tied to each of the games that you can view. The other thing it will bring out is the Challenge mode and the Museum. The Challenge mode will offer different sections of the various games all brought into one section. This can make for some very difficult sections of platforming and some great challenges. The Museum will offer hundreds of images from the archives about the history of the various enemies, Robot Masters and give information on them. This could teach even veteran players more information about their mechanical foes than they knew about before. At the booth they had playable versions of both Mega Man 1 and 2. While still in 8-bit, they looks amazingly clean and the controls felt better than ever. Expect to see this game for $15 US.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate had recently come out. This series has a steep learning curve to start getting good at it. On top of that, being a DS title, it is very clear that this format seems to be working well for the game series. There is a lot of free DLC as well for the title. For the Hunters, you can appear as Samus, Zero Suit Samus or Link. For your helpers, there are even more options: Dante from Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Chun-Li or Isebelle from Animal Crossing.

There were three other things that they wanted to talk about with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The first was “How Do You Hunt?” The details of this contest are simple. You must talk about a specific weapon that is an original Monster Hunter creation. The best part? It is your favorite weapon. Got a Lance or Insect Glaive that you adore and bring on every hunt you can? That is perfect. This contest will end on July 31st, so it is not too far off. The prize for this is a life size replica of the very weapon that you submitted the video on. The second thing is something that is working with Six Flags. The nearby Six Flags Magic Mountain had its Goliath Roller Coaster reskinned recently. The line area has been redone as well. All of this has you looking at some of the Cat Tents from Monster Hunter, various pieces of scenery from the game. The ride comes online July 15th for those who can make it there. The final thing was the addition of Monster Hunter Merchandise to the Capcom store. There had been a lot of demand and they were very happy to get stuff ready for the fans.

Now, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. Nothing new from our previous article on DMC 4 SE can really be added. You can now play as Virgil, Lady or Trish. Each of them with unique story lines. This adds a lot to the game itself from what you played with Nero and Dante.

Resident Evil 0's HD remake got some attention during this panel as well. It is looking to be released in early 2016. This being a remaster of a former GameCube exclusive offers something very good for all those who didn't own one. Capcom felt this was an important game to bring forward toward the modern era. This game offers the start of the Resident Evil Story Canon. The game will have a number of options available. You can play it in its original ratio (4:3) or the widescreen setting (16:9). In addition you can have the original control scheme or an alternate style (with the characters moving the direction of the control stick). They also revealed something that is a much lesser known fact. Resident Evil 0 was originally going to be a N64 title. They showed a short video that revealed the N64 prototype model, the finished Gamecube version and the Remake version. The comparisons were very clear across the different versions. Each was a very clearly, visually, different from one another. Numerous other aspects improved as well across the versions. This is definitely a game to look out for if you are a fan of the Resident Evil series.

Last, they talked about Street Fighter V. Only a little new information was presented compared to what was at the Street Fighter V panel. Capcom presently has a tour of Street Fighter V going on. There is a mobile installation that they have demo units in. It is traveling all across the US to visit various Six Flags parks. It offers more people the chance to play the game. You can also get into the beta for the game by pre-ordering it. There will be three phases to this process. The first runs from July 23rd to 28th and will be exclusive to the Playtastation 4. The second phase will be in the fall for both the PS4 and PC. The third, and final, phase presently has details pending.

Capcom has a strong presentation in this panel. There was a lot that they showed which would be hard to write about. Just know that the Capcom Store is going to be getting a lot of merchandise from the various games that they have.
