San Diego Comic Con 2015 - Street Fighter V Panel

San Diego Comic Con 2015 - Street Fighter V Panel

Capcom started San Diego Comic Con 2015 very strongly. Their first panel was on the new title, Street Fighter V! So far only a limited roster has been revealed, but everyone they have revealed so far has been playable at their booth down in the Dealer's Room.

Beginning with the big reveal, Ken Masters, long time rival of Ryu was shown in a very new and different look. For a long time he was a slightly different Ryu in many regards. Now, in Street Fighter V they have finally given him a drastic overhaul. This new look for Ken shows the differences that are inherent between him and Ryu. More so, this shows him to be played at someone who is fast and fairly aggressive in combat. This would very much be expected for the Street Fighter turned actor we know as Ken Masters!

For those paying attention at the end of Ken's reveal trailer, some dark eyes were seen. We know they belong to another, soon to be revealed fighter, but nothing was (officially) revealed to the identity of this combatant. This looks to be another known fighter in the Street Fighter universe.

When it comes to mechanics, Capcom understands some of what they need to do. Street Fighter can be a very technical game with its various inputs. Capcom has been working to make it a bit more beginner friendly to expand the raw player base and introduce more people to the world of Street Fighter.

Within the changes to game play was the addition of the Variable system. This works to replace the Focus system implemented in Street Fighter IV. There are 3 main uses of this system. The first and most helpful is the “V-Trigger”. Using this mode, each character will receive a power up as is appropriate for their style of fighting.

The biggest change they were talking about with the Street Fighter Series for this iteration was the introduction of Cross Platform play. Capcom, in partnership with Sony, is using a very new source code. This will also for near lagless play across the vast networks of the world and between the Playstation 4 and PCs.

Things look very good for Street Fighter. There are still some big questions as to how all this will come together. Mostly, we wonder who will be revealed next. We can definitely look forward to a Street Fighter game with what they are offering presently.
