There was a time when Nintendo Power ran a number of comics. Those who subscribed to Nintendo Power in 1992 know this comic series. Published over every issue that year, this comic series has only been compiled once before and has been out of print for years. This was one of the best received comics that they ran over the years. The compilation will keep all the original chapters and introduce a new generation of gamers not only to a fun comic but a classic video game.
These comics were done by Shotaro Ishinomori. This added completely new sections and only loosely followed the plot of the game. There were several new characters added. He was the creator behind Cyborg 009 andHimitsu Sentai Gorenger and several other series. He passed away at the age of 60 in 1998 due to heart failure.
Nintendo Power was known for being a guide oriented magazine for a long time. The magazine ran from 1988 to 2012. The magazine finished with a total of 285 issues! Still, they had several comics that were published in the back of the magazine. They had a long run series of "Nester's Adventures" (preceeded by "Howard and Nester"). They also made several Game oriented comics: A "Super Mario Bros comic", "Super Metriod", "Star Fox", "Mario and Wario" and likely a few more.
It was a very fun read over the years. It has aged very well and it is something to look forward to. Especially with the 3D re-release of Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Consider yourself lucky if you got one of the Special Editions with a Skull Kid statue!
