PS4 Sales Top 5 Million

Sales of Sony's PlayStation 4 console have topped 5 million as the system continues to pull into the lead ahead of an impending Japanese launch. The launch, which is set to take place on February 22, should add significantly to that figure.
Sony's projections at the end of last year had them selling around 5 million consoles by the end of the fiscal year on March 31. These latest reports indicate that they are well ahead of their projections, and should have good news to report at their next investor's meeting.
Early reports suggest that the PS4 will sell out instantly when it launches in Japan, just as it did in North America and Europe.
The Xbox One is already lagging far behind, with a still respectable 3 million units sold through to consumers. Both sets of numbers put shame to Nintendo's Wii U, though, which hasn't even managed that 3 million sales in the year-plus it's been at retail.
