GotY - Best PS4 Exclusive of 2013

The PS4 has a bit of the Xbox 360-syndrome going on for it right now, with an overall dearth of amazing exclusives having released in 2013 (there are plenty of great non-exclusives, but remember, this list only counts PS4-only games.) Because of this, we're only going to list a Runner-Up and a Winner below, instead of the standard 3-2-1 list.

So head below to find out which PS4 exclusives you absolutely needed to play in 2013.

Runner-Up

Killzone: Shadow Fall

Let's just get this out of the way right now: If you're buying Shadow Fall for the campaign, just save your money. It's uneven and all too often unfun, even if it is beautiful and peppered with occasional reminders that yeah, it could've been a lot better. In this Killzone, multiplayer is where it's at, and here is where Guerilla Games really let their imaginations go. The classic Warzone mode is represented again here, and provides as much variety and fun as ever. Meanwhile, the maps are often dynamic and full of alternate routes and chokepoints. It's potentially the strongest a multiplayer mode has ever been in a Killzone game.

And The Winner Is...

Resogun

Dem voxels, tho!!

Resogun is one of the prettiest PS4 games, but it might take you a few seconds to register that in all of the screen-searing chaos. Your objective is to free humans by killing certain key-carrying enemies, and deliver them to one of several drop points on the map. Enemies get in your way, and you blast them with your gun. More kills and more rescues equals more gun upgrades and bombs, with each level culminating in an intense boss fight. It's a simple formula, but it's one that's easy to lose track of in all the visual chaos. The nature of Resogun demands an almost trance-like state to succeed at, but luckily that's easy to achieve thanks to the thumping soundtrack and mesmerizing neon visuals.

Resogun is easily one of the most challenging games you'll play all year, but that just makes success all the more rewarding.

Oh, and it's free for PlayStation Plus members, so if you don't download Resogun, you disgust us.
