GotY - Best Xbox 360 Exclusive of 2013

The Xbox 360 undeniably had a weak year in 2013 in terms of exclusives. There was one big-box exclusive on the 360 over the course of the entire year, and the less we say about that, the better. It was on the digital front that the Xbox 360 held its ground against the PS3 and the Wii U this year, but even there it faltered and failed on many fronts. XBLA's biggest and best game of summer, Brothers, quickly moved on the the PlayStation Network and Steam, while much of the rest of the Summer of Arcade's lineup disappointed.

Still, if you dug deep enough, there were still solid 360 exclusives to be found in 2013. Give your 360 the send-off it deserves with the following great exclusives.

Note: Since we don't have a full three games worth mentioning, we're going to eschew the 3-2-1 format of the other awards and just go with a Runner-Up and a Winner.

Runner-Up

Charlie Murder

Charlie Murder sports the same grungy and violent gameplay that made the team's Dishwasher series such a cult hit with beat 'em up fans, but expanded tenfold with four-player co-op, unique playable characters, and tons of loot. If you've already carved through Diablo III on consoles, Charlie and his metalhead friends will scratch that loot itch you've most likely developed. And if solid, hard-hitting combat is all you're after, you can get it here with up to three friends. It's the best of both worlds.

Winner

Battleblock Theater

The Behemoth has done it again - they've crafted another charming, silly, and - most importantly - fun-to-play platformer. And as usual, they've done it on the Xbox 360 first. Battleblock Theater may have taken the team forever to finish, but for hardcore platforming fans it proved worth the wait. It doesn't have the depth or the violence of Castle Crashers, but for oldschool platforming fans and arena combat lovers alike there's a lot to love in Battleblock Theater. A chaotic versus mode is the icing on the cake that is the refreshingly oldschool platforming campaign, and as always, players have plenty of devious ways to screw one another over even as they're ostensibly cooperating.

It may not be as polished and lovable as Castle Crashers, but Battleblock Theater is still Grade-A The Behemoth through and through.
