Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Announced, Gets Teaser Trailer

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was a surprisingly fun take on the kart racing sub-genre when it was released in early 2010. This unexpectedly high quality, coupled with Sonic's already huge fanbase, has ensured a sequel. SEGA announced today that they, along with Sonic Team, would be developing the sequel, subtitled Transformed, for release sometime later in 2012. A salvo of media, including screenshots and a teaser trailer, accompanied the announcement.

True to its title, Transformed will feature morphing vehicles suitable for multiple types of terrain. On the road, you will drive in a normal kart. When you come to water, the car will transform into a boat, and when you need to fly, an impromptue transformation into an airplane will make it possible. Check out the trailer below to get a glimpse of this action, as well as a few new characters and courses glimpsed briefly towards the end. Whether or not the vehicles will be able to transform into any other forms remains to be seen, but we'll be sure to let you know all of the juicy details as soon as SEGA releases more info.
