Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Announced As Wii U Exclusive

Well folks, it's been a nice run. There have been some truly amazing video games released over the last few decades, and there will doubtless be dozens more coming on the horizon as Microsoft, Sony and Valve announce their plans for the next generation. But early this unassuming morning, video games pretty much ended for me when Nintendo and Atlus announced Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

That's it. Nice try everybody else, but I think we can all go home now.

See, this crossover represents the meeting of my two favorite role-playing series of all time, and I couldn't be more excited. With the depth and quirk of the Shin Megami Tensei series and the biting strategic play of Fire Emblem, this mammoth RPG pretty much leapt to the top of my "Most Wanted" list. But you don't have to be a super-fan to see the potential in this title.

The game, announced this morning as a Wii U exclusive, will be developed by Atlus and published by Nintendo. As the title suggests, it will bring together two of the most beloved role-playing and strategy franchises of all time for one epic battle. Although nothing is known for sure at the moment, the brief trailer, embedded below, shows a modern day cityscape in the distance, suggesting that there might be some time bending or time travel at work here.

Check out the trailer for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments. With this, the announcement of a Xenoblade Chronicles sequel, and that Bayonetta 2 trailer, is the Wii U turning into a promising buy for hardcore gamers? Zombi U says yes...
