Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Features Fuudo, Talks Tactics

Virtua Fighter 5 had the poor luck of releasing on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in early 2007, before Capcom's Street Fighter IV kicked off a fighting game renaissance that resulted in a torrent of fighting games that is still going strong today. Case in point: SEGA recently announced a reboot of VF 5, likely attempting to get in on the fighting action while the getting's good. For their promotion, they chose to go to EVO 2011 champ Fuudo. In the latest trailer for the updated game, Fuudo talks tactics, character balance, and how to get into the VF franchise from a newcomer's perspective. He also talks about how his newfound fame has been affecting him, and how he got his nickname in the first place.

Of course, this being a Virtua Fighter trailer, most of this talking is accompanied by footage of dudes straight up beating on each other. VF 5 was certainly a great fighting game when it released all those years ago, but if this footage is any indication it's starting to show its age. The graphics lack the flair of something like Marvel VS Capcom 3, and they don't have the detail of the recent Mortal Kombat reboot. That said, in the end, it's the gameplay that makes the fighter, not the graphics, and the Virtua Fighter series has always excelled in this department. Check out the trailer below to prepare yourself for the newest old fighting game on the block.
