portal 2 how do i stare at the painting

Question

i'm stuck in the first puzzle of portal 2 he is telling me to stare at the painting and I stare at it and nothign happens?

eh,

 your character has to stare at the painting not you 

go close enough to the painting (with your character) and have him look at the painting (have it in the center of the screen)

walk up to the painting and  move your mouse so that you could see the painting on your monitor

Your charactor has too stare at it not you! Silly!

Answer 4

Walk up to it, point your mouse towards the painting and stare as long as you want.

You have to look at the painting on roll your mouse wheel forward (or whatever equivilant button if you don't have a mouse wheel). This zooms in on whatever you are looking at.
