how do I make a workbench in Minecraft?

from the start you want to get a block off a tree, place in in the 2x2 crafting grid and get 4 plank blocks, place 1 in each of the corners in the 2x2 crafting grid to get a workbench

to use it place it down just like any other block and then stand near it and right click it, and you will get a 3x3 crafting grid
