Diamonds are found in the bottom layers of the map. Not at only bed rock level, but also a bit above that. The best way to find diamond is to just, when finding caves, go down the routes that look promising. Try always going down hallways instead of up, because it cannot be found a certain elevation.

Make sure that when stepping off of a raised platform, to look behind you to make sure you didn't miss any. I have, many times, missed diamonds because I jumped off and didn't look at the block where I stepped. It is often found near lava, but not always.

When you find diamond, my advice is to dig out around it first, especially the bottom. Diamond is rare, and the worst thing is to dig out a block, only for it to fall into lava beneath it.

Sometimes diamond is in bedrock but there is 1 diamond in bedrock but i dont get it. how does diamond be found on layer 2? or where? (comment under this)
In Minecraft they have layers and diamonds are on layers 12 to 16. People usualy say its near lava but thats because they can see better and its in a cave but the people that made Minecraft did'nt put them near lava. Bedrock is known as layer 5 because bedrock is multiple layers but you would'nt know that because you can break it to see.

They are most likely found near lava in deep, deep caves. Just be careful! One wrong step and you'll lose everything!

from minecraft wiki:

It can be found in a vein of 1-8 blocks (with larger concentrations obviously being more rare). Diamond shows up at elevations ranging from 1 to 19 blocks above the bottom of the map (for comparison, sea level is around 64 blocks above the bottom of the map). Below elevation 18, it occurs in roughly 0.08% of rock. This means that you must check 867 blocks below elevation 18 to have a 50% chance of finding at least one diamond ore.

Look in the 16 layers directly above the first Bedrock that you find in your world to find Diamond. It can be a bit hard to find, but after a while of digging you might find a vein or just a single block.
