The single best method for protecting your account is to use an authenticator.

This is a device or app that generates a striing of digits that you must input along with your login information. It is a little bit of a hassle, but it basically guaranties that your account will not be hacked since the string provided by the authenticator change.

This means that even if someone had your login information, they still couldn't get on.

Other helpful methods are to run a nice antivirus. I use AVG Free. It's free, and warns me if a particular website may be dangerous or has had a reported attack.

Also, NEVER give out your login information. Official Rift GM's / CSR's will never ask you for your password. Instead they will ask you to go to the website and log into your account. If they provide a website, don't trust it. Type it in manually yourself, or use google to make sure you're on the right legit page.

Obviously the best way is to use a L33T password and check your PC for key loggers frequently.
