Terraria how come one of my characters randomly got deleted?

Yeah i had the exact samer problem as well, i've just been away for about a week at a festival and when i came back i found that everything i made in terraria, including all my characters and worlds, had been deleted for some random reason. Maybe everyones games have been reset? who knows... I'd like to find out why this has happened though

Probably a server error. If your using anything to remove files from your computer any 'errors' will be removed even files contain information. If you need any weapons or anything i will be happy to help (i'll be on the terraria mainpage)
