Depends how sociable you are, if you want to play online games in your room on your own on a 42 inch screen then your a PS3 type of person, if your console lives in your living room and is there for all and sundry to use and enjoy then it's wii all the way. If your uk based there is the iplayer on it too.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for something more family oriented with local play and a lower price tag the Wii has you covered. It doesn't do HD resolution and is much more casual in game focus.

The PS3 will cost you more but has a much better online experience. If you want games with blood, violence, more complicated stories, etc. the PS3 is better. It also has a better downloadable game service with a number of great titles.

Wii FTW.

It doesn't look as nice as a PS3 graphics wise but Nintendo throws out polished and innovatice games unlike mass market crap from Sony and Microsoft.

I think the PS3, as it has better quality games then the wii, which has a library of a lot of bad third party games. However, the wii is more family friendly while the PS3 is for the more hardcore gamer.

This is my opinion and is not based on specs.

It depends what you're looking for.

Honestly, the PS3 is the better console. Out of all the consoles on the market, it is the biggest amalgam of entertainment equipment. It plays Blu-rays, DVDs, supports streaming from PC to PS3 through a media network. It also supports the simple plug and play of many video formats through USB.

The Wii only outputs in 480i/p, which is standard definition. The internal memory is small, and the console doesn't even play DVDs. It is more of a casual, family console, instead of what I'd call an entertainment system. Also, the wii-mote is very hit and miss. Much of the wiggle and waggle is misinterpreted into an unintended command.

It is really only fun to play in short bursts.

Like others have said, it really does depend what you're looking for. I'd like to add though that the PS3 is backwards compatable with PS2 and PS1 games. That's a really large library of awesome games to play.

It depends on what you want out of your gaming experience. The Wii is oriented more towards children than adults and the PS3 is the other way around. So really, just find some games you want to play, and see what platform they are for. Then buy that platform.

The PS3 has better graphics, and a better online. The Wii has Nintendo games, and the multiplayer is mostly based on being in the same room as the people you're playing with. However, it also has a lot of bad third party games. I prefer the Wii when it comes to conoles, and a pc for more serious gaming.

The PS3 is the far better console, IMO. MLB TV, Netflix, etc... on top of a blu-ray player and far superior graphics and processing. So, for most people this is a no brainer: PS3 wins.

However, Wii does have a niche market: family oriented players or people who like to play games with multiple people in a room etc...

I guess it depends on what you prefer.

This is easy. PS3. It's HD, has internal storage and multi-player is much easier. (That is when PSN is actually working LOL)

Personally, PS3 - blu ray, good amount of games and the ps online store is loading classic I enjoy replaying.

Wii I'm not a fan of, it's not even a DVD player and it's user base is more for casual gaming.

it all depends on what you are looking for if you want fun and like to play with people in the same room and sometimes online (mario kart anyone??) to me if i wanna play HD games i get them for the pc which are easily ten plus dollars cheaper. plus if you buy a wii you can get a cheap blue ray player and there blue ray movies to watch. granted blue ray movies are expensive.

if you like the old nes, snes , n64 games yo ucan easily download and buy them online and the wiiware stuff is pretty good too like FF4 and its extended part of the game is on wii only. you cant get games like mario kart with online, or super mario bros wii, or donkey kong country returns for  the ps3. but you know what you can get games like portal 2, stret fighter 4, crysis 2, mass effect 2, etc etc etc etc for the pc and is cheaper then yo uwould get them for the ps3 in fact you can also have them with better graphics if you have the right pc.
