Some servers have a list of people who are allowed to join a server. This is so people who got banned can not easily join the server again.

not being whitelisted means that you are not on this list yet. If you want to be, try pming the owner of the server.

basically the admins of the server can make it andatory to be on a list they create in order to gain access. the not whitelisted means they haven't put you on that list.
