Ask YOUR question:

Why Overclocking?

+1 vote
I'm a total noob for asking, but why do gamers overclock? Is it necessary for me?

I have a i7 860 @ 2.8GHz, and ATI radeon HD 5770. I get no lag in my games (most of which are new and have DX11), even Crysis 1 runs well for me.

Now, why do gamers with super-high end PCs overclock? If I can run every game ok, why is it necessary/wanted? Is it because they need to use multiple monitors, or what? Or is overclocking more more those with older systems who need a boost?

Thanks.
