I used NCR Ranger armour as soon as I got it till the end of the game.

The power armor are too heavy. The slight DT increase don't justify the weight increase.

the brotherhood of steel have excellent armor, but it is heavy. heavy armor will slow you down, and since it is heavy, leaves less room for you to carry things. other armors also offer other things, like added weapon skills or perception.
