When it comes to playing it on your computer (off-broswer), the most simple advice I can give you is to not update :P

If you want to play earlier versions of Minecraft Alpha/Beta, you can probably find the minecraft.jar somewhere on the internet, and add it to the Bin folder. Minecraft Classic Creative can be played from the Minecraft page or from custom clients. I don't think it's possible to play Indev/infdev/Classic survival.
