Since the pirates and nobles expansion my heroes can't cook anything but gruel!

Question

I have a lot of cooking options but when I ask to cook anything, with any cooking device, they will ignore my request. The only thing that works is gruel, or rat, or flat bread. Is there any way to fix this???
