Mass Effect 3 possible to save the kid at the beginning?

In ME3 Shepard sees a child inside a duct in the first mission

I tell the kid to get out but he seems afraid

then the kid disappears

later I see the kid boarding a shuttle but it is destroyed by reapers

this makes me wonder if there was any way I could save the kid?

No. He dies no matter what you say. He's just a plot device placed there to tug at your heart strings. Stupid kid.
