Sure, you can be shot to death by robotic turrets, fall into water and drown, or fall to your death via seemingly bottomless pits. In these instances, you'd just restart at your last checkpoint. Falling from great distances is not an issue in this game.

 

If you mean story wise, then no, the protagonist survives until the end of the game, as long as you can complete it.
