Rift trying to download update and getting Downloading Failed (error #1003) what do i do?

I had the same issue, it got to 8.36 GB twice and showed the error then wouldnt recover the files and just started downloading from the start again.

I fixed it by going into the rift folder, going into the Downloads and renaming one of the 8.36gb folders (found out how big they were using the properties function of windows) to the same name as the most recent download which was only 32mb because i stopped it. Then i used the file recovery option and it continued the download from here it stopped previously

 

So steps:

Start a new download after yours has shown error #1003 and cancel it after about 30MB

Go into the downloads folder in your rift installation

Find the broken download and rename it to the same as the most recent download, after deleting the most recent one (write the folder name somewhere)

Then run the updater as Administrator and choose Recover Files

It should then start the download from the point where it stopped previously.
