you can sometimes revive them with spells or a wands of ressurection but not all of time

You cannot actually pick them up. You can pick up their equipment though. At a temple you can resurrect "greyed out" party members, and if you have Jaheira or a Cleric in the party you may be able to use a spell yourself to raise them.
One of the problems if most of your party is dead, is that you cannot carry all the equipment. In that case carry the most important equipment or even better if you can, put the least important in a chest and return for it later.
If party members are "chunked" (Not greyed out but dismembered) it is impossible to raise them.
