Probably not, but Sugarcane dose need water. Team of Userfox AKA by bro found out that cacti don't need light, but crops requiring a hoe need light all day and sometimes night in minecraft. I imagine Sugar cane dose not need light, but I woild not want bad mobs to spawn!
