is it possible in portal 2 to create your own custom map?

You can do it now with hammer, using the source engine. You just need a custom .fgd to be able to use the portal 2 stuff. It is possible tho, check fileplanet and you can see alot of custom portal2 maps.

use Source Hammer or the Portal 2 SDK once it's out. You can get a lot of support at the Steam forums or on Facepunch.

A Editor for Portal 2 is already confirmed and is going to be released as soon as Valve is done with the programming and when Steam is making it available to all Portal 2 owners in the Tools section.

You will need Portal 2 SDK to make custom maps but I think it will be released soon.
